Only a few days remain now until our next meeting, one of the biggest of the season, Metal Mania 25. With a healthy list of Unlimiteds and 1600s, plus over 20 Junior Rookies and double figures of Stock Cars, it’s certain to be a fantastic day. So, who will be the ones to watch on Sunday?
UNLIMITED BANGERS ![]()
Currently we have 25 drivers booked in for Sunday, including last year’s Champion 128 Gareth Todd. Gareth will start the meeting as the only former winner of Metal Mania and will no doubt be looking to take a second title in a row. Looking at the list he will face some stiff competition but as always with these hard hitting cars, a lot will depend on who survives the opening races. A lot of talk has rested on the anonymous list and let us rest assured it’s full of quality drivers, some who like to entertain, some who like to win and one whose Dad already has his name on the Metal Mania roll of honour. Make sure you’re there Sunday to find out who the drivers are!
1600 BANGERS ![]()
Currently just over 40 cars booked in for the 1600s and anybody who remembers last year’s final will know that we are guaranteed action. What started as a full track fell to three drivers left running and the win going to 246 Oliver Smith. It’s great to see a few over from the Isle of Man, unfortunately one who had to drop out due to ferry issues was 119 TJ Teare, who won our opening Final of the season. Last time out 474 Jamie Noon took a Heat win and did some entertaining, along with his running mate, 252 Finley Bentham, both will no doubt be looking to hit anything moving on the day. 660 Dan Croskell was another driver on form last time out taking both the Final and the Dash, although he could have his hands full if he’s racing both Unlimiteds and 1600s!
JUNIOR ROOKIES ![]()
Returning for the second meeting of the season, currently 22 drivers are set to hit the track on Sunday. 117 Jaxon Mckenna was the driver on form in only his second or third meeting, taking a Heat and Final double to secure the top of the points. Currently sitting second and third in the points are 325 Harvey Dempster and Mr Consistent 566 Jack Roskell. It’s great to see a couple of the Ministox drivers having a go in the Junior Rookies including 262 George Ellison, 832 Olivia Fretter and 49 Tamzin Brown. It’s good also to see 376 Kade Bromley back on the booking list, he showed a lot of promise last season so will no doubt be looking to make up for a missed opening meeting on Sunday.
STOCK CARS ![]()
Heading into Sunday’s meeting the top three, 718 Craig Morphet, 424 Joel Harris and 195 Bobby Lewney have opened up a little gap at the top of the table. That being said fourth place is currently 282 Richard Ellison and if he’s still in the scintillating form he showed last meeting, he could leap frog all three by the end of the meeting. Another driver showing good speed at the last meeting was 244 Riley Harris, taking the Grand National to begin his winners pile of trophies. We’re sure he’ll be looking to add more on Sunday.
It’s set to be a mega meeting on Sunday and one that you miss at your own risk! Our drivers prove time and time again how entertaining they can be with only a few cars on track, so come Sunday with some full grids, the action should be off the charts! Make sure you don’t miss any of it, get yourself down to Warton this Sunday! See you all there!
