There’s only a few days to go until our next meeting of 2026, the May Day Wacky Races meeting. 1600 Bangers and Ladies Bangers return to the card, as do the Senior Minis, along with the Stock Cars and Ministox. Who will be the ones to watch on Sunday?
1600 BANGERS ![]()
With 14 drivers currently booked in and more likely to turn up on the day we should be in for another day of entertainment. Last time the 1600s graced the track the Heats were won by 107 Thomas Scarborough and the Final 119 TJ Teare. With neither driver currently booked in, that could lead the way to surprise winners. Another notable absence is Points leader, currently double his nearest rival, 79 Michael Byram. Of those booked in you might be surprised to find 181 Jordan Cadman the only one to currently taste victory at Warton in 2026.
LADIES BANGERS ![]()
It seems like an age since the Ladies graced the track and the top three enter this meeting separated by just four points. Despite not taking a win at the opening meeting, 686 Eleanor Morphet tops the table, with opening Final winner 906 Nancy Booth second. 390 Brooke Alderson sits third after a Heat win and some consistent finishes. Defending Gold and Silver roof 185 Hannah Macneal is booked in and set to make her season debut.
SENIOR MINIS ![]()
After a meeting off the Seniors return with 11 currently booked in. 191 Harry Leece made a statement on his debut last time out, 43 points, shooting him straight to second in the table. 7 Shaun Yeats had to settle with just one trophy, the opening Heat but retains a healthy 20 point lead in the charts. Another driver on the move last meeting was 59 Mark Brook, taking the Grand National win, he’ll be hoping to continue that good form in the season in which, in his words, ‘he’s not really bothered this year’. Another good meeting on Sunday and that might change! Mr Consistency 88 Robbie Holt holds on to third in the table, picking up good hauls of points in the opening meetings.
STOCK CARS ![]()
With less than 20 points separating 718 Craig Morphet at the top of the table and 9 Nick Bell in 7th place, this class is a must watch at the moment. Currently nobody higher than Blue grade has taken a win, partly because the Reds and Superstars are too busy firing each other wide. Every position counts! Heat wins last time out went to 555 John Byram and 282 Richard Ellison and the Final went to the hard charging 108 Kevin Parks. If you were a betting man you’d keep well away from trying to predict the winners on Sunday!
MINISTOX ![]()
Like the Stock Cars, the Ministox are proving very close on pace and no driver seems to be able to dominate yet. 433 Oscar Whitham took his first win from Red grade last meeting, taking the Final by a millimetre, the only millimetre he led! The unfortunate runner up was 262 George Ellison, who also holds on to second in the points after a win in Heat 2. 180 Declan Johnson was the other driver taking a win on the day, an impressive drive in Heat 1. They’ll be first on track on Sunday and will no doubt be setting the standard for close, fast racing for the rest of the formulas to follow!
With the points so close in every formula, make sure you get yourself down to Warton this Sunday, for guaranteed action all day long! See you all there!
